After winning the first two games, the Knights looked as though they were closing in on the sweep with a 25-20 lead in the third game, but Grossmont went on an 11-4 run to win 31-29. The momentum from that comeback carried them in the next game as they won 30-27, but the Knights recovered to win the fifth game, 15-11.

In that game, the teams were even at 9-9, but City closed it out with a 6-2 run. During that run, the Knights' Skylar del Sol recorded four of his 26 kills. He also recorded 10 defensive digs during the match.

Steve Rindfleisch had a match-high 28 kills to go with seven digs and five service aces.
 

Freshman Steve Rindfleisch led the Knights with 29 kills. Freshman outside hitter Skylar del Sol recorded a double-double with 24 kills and 12 digs.
 

Freshman outside hitter Skylar del Sol was hitting the ball with power all night. He recorded a game-high 27 kills and also had 16 digs. Freshman middle blocker Steve Rindfleisch totaled 16 kills and freshman setter had a game-high 60 assists.
 

Jed Stotsenberg has been named the new head coach of the men's volleyball team. Stotsenberg takes over a program that is only in its third year of existence at San Diego City College.

Stotsenberg has coached at different levels including high school and professional. He is currently coaching the team of Matt Olson and Kevin Wong on the AVP pro beach volleyball tour. Stotsenberg is also the Boys' Director for the Wave Volleyball Club.

Stotsenberg played at San Diego State from 1998 to 2000 and then went on to play professionally in Germany and Switzerland.
