Foundations, Pharmacology, Pediatrics, and Work Experience for Nursing Students

Professional Background

Doctoral SDSU EdD Community College Leadership Program MSN and BSN California State University Dominguez Hills Associate Degree Applied Science/Nursing Owens College

San Diego City College has an excellent nursing program and I am proud to be a part of the faculty here. Our students are wonderful and I enjoy hearing from my past students and the adventures that they are having in their nursing careers. I recently completed my doctoral degree. I chose a doctoral program which focuses on community college leadership because of my strong belief in the mission of community colleges. We truly can make a difference in the lives of our students and their families! I currently represent the Nursing Education Department as an academic senator on the San Diego City College Academic Senate.

I have been a nurse for over 30 years while gaining a variety of experiences. I have enjoyed my life as a nurse and now share all of those experiences while teaching the nurses of the future. Some of the areas which I have expertise in include:

  • Pediatric and adult oncology
  • Labor and delivery
  • Neonatal intensive care including transport
  • Home infusion including inserting PICC line
  • Director of Nursing for home infusion companies
  • Director of Nursing for several nursing education programs
  • Started the Vocational Nursing program for City College

I enjoy being outdoors while hiking, beach time, planting flowers, photography and just being with my family. Favorite places include Yosemite and Mount Whitney.

On October 15, 2011, I will hike 26 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail  in California to help raise money towards finding a cure for children's cancer, the #1 cause of death by disease in children. Click here for more information.
