Son Nguyen Named Coach of the Year, LanAnh Nguyen Named MVP

Head Coach Son Nguyen has been named as the Orange Empire Conference's Coach of the Year for the 2012 season. Coach Nguyen led the Knights to the OEC championship for the fifth time in the last seven years and the Knights are looking to win their fourth state championship under Nguyen's direction.

The Knights finished the 2012 regular season with an 8-0 record and have qualified to play in the CCCAA Regional Team Playoff vs. Pasadena on May 2. If the Knights win that match, they will advance to the CCCAA State Championship on May 10.

Nguyen's Knights won the state title in his first three years (2006, 2007 and 2008) as head coach of the team. The Knights also won the OEC title in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010.

The Knights' top singles player, LanAnh Nguyen, was also honored by the OEC by being awarded as the conference's Most Valuable Player. Nguyen won the conference singles championship as well as the doubles championship with teammate Tammy Vu. Nguyen will be the No. 1 seed in both individuals and doubles (with Vu) at the CCCAA State Championships beginning on May 11.

All six members of the Knights were selected to the OEC All-Conference Team. Nguyen and Vu, who is the No. 2 seed at the state championships, made the All-OEC Team along with Loise Zosa, Lena Van, Cynthia Wong and Vicky Lor.
