Fitch Gives Knights a 4-2 Win With 2-RBI Hit in 8th

Sophomore Cesar Fitch broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 8th with a 2-RBI single that put the Knights on top for good as they held on for the 4-2 home win over Mt. San Jacinto on Tuesday.

The Knights have now won two straight after dropping five in a row and improved to 12-10 overall and 4-3 in the PCAC.

Anders Tolhurst pitched seven innings for the Knights and recorded nine strikeouts, while allowing two unearned runs off three hits.

The Knights tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first when a stealing attempt by Matt Bagdasar allowed Joey Wozniak to score from third on the throw to second base.

Mount San Jacinto regained a 2-1 lead in the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly, but the Knights tied it once again in the bottom of the 5th on Ian McIntyre's solo home run to left center.

Then in the bottom of the 8th, with Bagdasar at third and Jack Sandberg on second, Fitch singled up the middle and both runners came home to put the Knights ahead, 4-2.

Fitch then came in to close the game in the top of the 9th and earned his fifth save of the season by retiring the side on a fly out and two strikeouts.
