Knights Upended by Fullerton, 10-3

2/8/2014

The Knights won two of their first three games to begin the season, but have now lost two straight after suffering a 10-3 home loss to Fullerton (4-1). Geordy Smith was responsible for all three runs for the Knights as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Fullerton got on the board early with a run in the top of the first, but the Knights came right back to tie it in the bottom of the inning. Jp Rios led the inning off with a hit and later came around to score from third base on a single by Smith.

The Hornets regained the lead in the second inning with two runs coming off an RBI double from Troy Parasertsit and a sacrifice fly by John Orlando. Fullerton then blew the game open with a five-run third inning to take an 8-1 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth, Rios led the inning off with a walk. After a sacrifice bunt by James McKenrick to move Rios over to second base, Gabriel Santana was also walked. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch and were then brought home on a double by Smith.

That's all the Knights' offense could manage on Saturday as they were shutout the rest of the way.
