Knights Win 2nd Straight Over Imperial Valley

The San Diego City College baseball team won its second consecutive game over Imperial Valley on crushing the Arabs, 9-1. It was the largest margin of victory for the Knights who improved to 7-22 overall and 5-15 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

Starting pitcher Kyle Peeler helped his own cause in the first inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Joshua Burns for the first run of the game.

In the bottom of the third, Knights' catcher Joseph Lavin singled in the second run of the game for the Knights and Jp Rios later tripled to center field, allowing Lavin and Peeler to cross home plate for a 4-0 lead.

Peeler scored once again in the fifth inning on Geordy Smith's sacrifice fly.

The Knights blew the game open in the bottom of the sixth with four runs coming on an RBI single by Burns, an RBI fielder's choice by Peeler, and  two separate wild pitches that allowed Burns and Peeler to score from third base.

Imperial Valley's lone run came in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Jar Espinoza.

In addition to having a productive day with the bat, Peeler (3-6) allowed only one run off six hits with five strikeouts in seven innings on the mound.

Brien Grant relieved Peeler in the eighth inning and retired the side. Mike Poteet closed the game for the Knights by also retiring the side in the ninth inning.

The Knights and the Arabs complete their three-game series on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Morley Field. After Friday's game, the Knights will have 10 days off before playing the final three games of the season against Mesa.
