The Knights finished the 2013 season on a high note by defeating the PCAC champion Palomar Comets, 1-0, for their fifth consecutive win. It was the fourth straight game between the teams that was decided by one run, but the first that the Knights won.
Cole Chandler (3-2) earned the win after striking out five and allowing just four hits in 7.2 innings. Brent Daugherty earned his second save of the season after retiring the final four batters.
The Knights extended their winning streak to three after holding on for a 4-3 home victory over Grossmont. Starting pitcher Andrew Macmahon (3-4) earned the win after going 7.2 innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out three.
Ryan McClanahan went 3-for-4 with on RBI and two runs. Fabian Cosio went 2-for-3 with with two RBI.
Knights' starting pitcher Cole Chandler (1-2) pitched his second complete game of the season while giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts, but it wasn't enough as the Knights lost, 2-1, to the first place Palomar Comets. Palomar starting pitcher Kyle Montiel (7-1) also went the distance and allowed just one run on nine hits.
Matt Arlington hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth that forced extra innings and Blake Chandler's walk-off single in the 11th gave the Knights a 6-5 home victory over Southwestern that ended a four-game losing skid.
Mark Vasquez threw another gem on Thursday, recording a season-high 11 strikeouts while holding Imperial Valley to one run in his fifth complete game of the season. The Knights avenged Tuesday's 6-5 loss to Imperial Valley by beating the Arabs, 6-1.
The Knights fell behind, 4-1, but hit back with a 6-run fifth inning and a 5-run sixth inning to take control of the game and beat Imperial Valley, 12-5, in the opening game of PCAC play. Matt Arlington went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI while William Kaufman earned the win after pitching seven innings in his first start of the season.
Mark Vasquez completed his second consecutive game as he held Irvine Valley to just one run (unearned) on four hits in the Knights' 3-1 road victory on Wednesday afternoon. J.P. Rios went 1-for-2 with a 2-RBI double that brought in the winning runs in the top of the 1st.
The Knights hosted Arizona Western on Tuesday for a 7-inning doubleheader that ended in a split. Arizona Western edged the Knights, 5-4, in the first game, but SDCC responded with a 4-0 shutout victory in the second game. It was the Knights' first of this young 2013 season.
The Knights fell behind, 5-1, before rallying to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th, but Saddleback had the last laugh as the Gauchos scored in the top of the 10th and hung on for the 6-5 win. Drew Danzeisen went 3-for-5 with one RBI while Ryan McClanahan went 1-for-4 with his lone hit bringing in the two runs that tied the game.
The Knights closed out the 2012 season with a 9-2 victory over Imperial Valley at Morley Field on Friday. City won the season series over the Arabs, 4-1.
