Knights Clinch A Share of the PCAC South Title

The Knights clinched at least a tie for the PCAC South division title with a 91-80 home win over Mesa. Chris Burton led the Knights with a game-high 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting and six rebounds.

Caleb Singleton went 6-of-12 from beyond the three-point line en route to 22 points. Singleton shot 8-for-16 overall and also brought down six rebounds.

Mesa controlled the early part of the game and even took a six-point lead, but the Knights turned it around in a hurry with a 22-6 run to go up 31-22.

The Olympians cut the Knights' lead down to a single point early in the second half, but a 31-17 run over the next 10 minutes gave SDCC its largest lead of the night at 78-63.

SDCC did not allow Mesa to get any closer than nine points the rest of the game and went on to defeat the Olympians for the second time this season.

Three-pointers were a big factor as the Knights converted 13-for-29 to Mesa's 4-for-11.

The victory was the Knights' third in a row and their fourth in the last five games. SDCC is now 18-8 overall and 6-0 in the PCAC South.

A win in the final two games would give the Knights the outright PCAC South title. They travel to Imperial Valley on Wednesday and then close out the regular season on Friday, Feb. 21 at home vs. Southwestern.
