Knights Go Undefeated In PCAC South
The Knights went an undefeated 8-0 in the PCAC South after dispatching the Southwestern Jaguars, 88-71, at Harry West Gym in the final game of the 2013-14 regular season. This is the fourth time under Head Coach Mitch Charlens that the Knights have won a conference title, but the first time that they've finished without a loss.
SDCC went 20-8 overall which matches their second best record since 2004-05. It's also the third time under Charlens that the Knights have reached 20 victories.
The Knights were ahead by just one point with 2:31 left in the first half, but they scored 12 unanswered points to close the half and went into the locker room with a 46-33 lead.
Southwestern (11-15, 4-4 PCAC) scored the first four points of the second half to get within nine points, but SDCC responded with a 12-2 run to take a 58-39 lead.
SDCC extended their lead to as many as 23 points and did not allow the Jaguars to get any closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
Caleb Singleton led the way for the Knights by making 6-of-11 from behind the three-point line. He added a pair of free throws and finished with 20 points to go with a team-high eight rebounds.
Mike Scott poured in 18 points and Christian Jones added 16 points. Martin Thomas, who was the lone sophomore playing in his final regular season game with the Knights, had nine points, five rebounds, and four assists.
The PCAC South champions will now wait to see who and where they'll play in the playoffs which begin on Feb 26. Box Score
