Mitch Charlens Named Coach of the Year; Darien McClain Tabbed as Player of the Year


The SDCC men's basketball team routed Mesa 102-74 on Friday to cap off its second consecutive undefeated PCAC South season, and third in the last four years. The back-to-back PCAC South champions finished the regular season on a 12-game win streak, their longest in school history. The Knights, who went 26-5 overall and 10-0 in the PCAC South, were rewarded for their success on Monday.

McClain's Jumper Clinches Outright PCAC South Championship


Not only did Darien McClain's jumper with 1.2 seconds remaining give the Knights a thrilling 71-69 home victory over Southwestern on Friday night, but it also clinched a second consecutive outright PCAC South championship and the sixth under Head Coach Mitch Charlens.

The SDCC men's basketball team continued its hot start to the season by winning all three games at the Palomar College Thanksgiving Tournament to claim the championship. Sophomore center Alex Wilbourn was named tournament Most Valuable Player and Wonder Smith was selected to the all-tournament team along with Wilbourn.
