The Knights nearly overcame a great individual performance by Miramar's Le'Sean Galbreath, who scored 56 points, but the Jets were able to pull out a 100-92 double overtime win over the Knights. The Knights had five players score in double figures including Anthony Poindexter who led with 22 points to go with seven rebounds.
The Knights were tied with Mesa in the final minute, but it was the Olympians who prevailed, 73-69, after making 4-of-5 free throws down the stretch. It was the first time in six years that the Knights had suffered a loss to Mesa. The last time came on January 13, 2007; a streak of 11 games.
Devyn Iglehart led the Knights with 23 points, six rebounds and three assists in a losing effort on Friday night. The Knights nearly erased a 17-point deficit, but Palomar hung on to defeat them, 75-60.
The Knights, who were coming off a close 72-69 win at Grossmont on Wednesday, played their conference home-opener on Friday and earned a 69-54 victory over Imperial Valley after pulling away in the second half. Trevor English had a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds in what was the Knights' sixth win in the last seven games.
The Knights overcame a 5-point deficit in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime where they pulled out a 95-93 victory over visiting Long Beach City. Devyn Iglehart led the Knights with 28 points, six assists, and made the two free throws that sent the game into the extra period.
Justice Howard had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks off the bench. Trevor English put in 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Josh White added 10 points.
The Knights knocked off the No. 3 Saddleback Gauchos, 69-68, in the championship game of the Bill Brummel Classic at Saddleback College. Trevor English, who finished with 22 points and four rebounds, was named MVP of the tournament.
The Knights made it to the championship game of their own Knights Invitational Tournament for the second straight year, but were bested by Mt. San Jacinto in the final, 95-89. Devyn Iglehart, who made the game-winning layup one night earlier to send SDCC to the championship game, led the Knights with 20 points and four assists. Howard Justice and Kyle Anderson each had 17 points.
The 7th Annual Knights Invitational will take place from Friday, Nov. 16 to Sunday, Nov. 18. The Knights will play Cypress College in the opening game of the tournament which is slated for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff on Friday.
The rest of the field includes; Citrus, Cuesta, Grossmont, Mt. San Jacinto, Porterville and Sequoias.
Malcolm Thomas, who played for the SDCC Knights during the 2008-09 season, was selected to the 2012 All-NBA D-League First Team, as voted on the NBA D-League's 16 head coaches. He was also named to the NBA D-League's All-Rookie First Team as well as the All-Defensive First Team.
