Knights Continue to Rise at SBVC Invitational
The San Diego City College women’s cross country team posted its best team time of the season at the San Bernardino Valley College Invitational. Six of the seven runners posted personal bests, including freshman Brianna Coronado who continued to lead the team with a 52nd place finish in a time of 23:20 over the 5K course.
Freshman Barbara Saucedo also had a standout performance, finishing as the Knights’ second runner in big personal best of 25:57.
“I was really impressed with the approach the team took at this meet, "said Head Coach Marco Anzures. "They have worked so hard over the course of the season and each time we compete they continue to impress me. We had a goal of running together in groups for as long as we could. Barbara (64th in 25:57), Esmeralda San Andres (73rd in 27:43), Linda Castro (71st in 27:15), and Viridiana Ayala (69th in 26:45) really committed themselves to running in a pack and it showed in their great results."
Also running strong for the Knights were freshmen Alejandra Bonilla (33:40, 81st) and Angela Gonzalez (36:34, 82nd).
The Knights will compete next on Friday, October 14 at their final home meet against Imperial Valley College in Balboa Park at 6th Ave and Laurel Street. The women’s collegiate 5K begins at 2:00 p.m. and the men’s collegiate 4-miler begins at 2:45 p.m.Results
