Joanna Lopez Paces Knights With 5th Place Finish at Downey Classic

The Knights competed in their third meet of the year at the Coach Downey Classic and fared well despite sitting out two of their top runners. Freshman Joanna Lopez once again finished as the top Knight, placing 5th overall, and recording a time of 21:48 over a 5k distance.

The team finished 5th overall only 8 points from the fourth place team, Imperial Valley. This was the second year the Knights hosted college teams from throughout Southern California to race at Morley Field and head coach Marco Anzures, was pleased with the turnout.

“The goal of hosting this meet is to attract quality teams from throughout the area to give our growing program an opportunity to showcase its talents," said Anzures. "We are on our way to accomplishing that.”
