Knights Take 5th at PCAC Championships, Qualify for Regionals
The SDCC women's cross country team earned a fifth place finish at the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championships and also qualified for the CCCAA Southern California championships.
Andrea Villalpando, who was selected to the All-PCAC Team, was the first Knight to cross the finish line at the championship race, held at Griffen Park in La Mesa. She came in 15th place with a time of 22:28.14. Maudelyn Price was also a top 20 finisher as she came in 17th with a time of 22:41.93.
Vianney Kugler (23:10.85), Alma Nava (23:21.38), and Angela Taina (23:33.98) all finished in the top 25 as they came in 21st, 22nd,and 23rd, respectively.
As a team the Knights ended the race in fifth out of seven teams with a total of 98 points. Mesa finished in first place with 52 points, followed by Palomar (64 points), Cuyamaca (70 points), and Southwestern (73 points). Imperial Valley (136 points) took sixth place and Grossmont (183 points) came in seventh.
The fifth place finish helped the Knights qualify for the CCCAA Southern California Championships to be held on November 3 at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa, Calif.
