Knights Start PCAC Season With 5-0 Victory

The San Diego City College women's soccer team opened the 2016 PCAC schedule with a 5-0 home win over Imperial Valley in which five different Knights scored.

The victory was City's first of the season as they ended a five-game losing streak to start the 2016 campaign.

Gloria Cardenas scored what would end up being the game-winner in the 11th minute when a corner kick from Karina Chamberlain rolled its way to Cardenas untouched and she one-timed it into the back of the net.

A minute later, a low cross from Giuliana Orlandoni found Dah Moo in near the far post where she knocked it in for the 2-0 lead.

After the halftime break in the 53rd minute, Felicia Valenzuela took the ball just past midfield and found herself on a breakaway down the right side and beat the IVC goalkeeper with a shot towards the far post.

In the 57th minute, Valenzuela found Aunica Abbott who was making a run down the left side and put the ball through to give City a 4-0 advantage.

After playing the first 78 minutes in goal for the Knights, Lisa Garcia came on to play in the midfield and it resulted in another goal. Chamberlain connected with Garcia on a through ball and she made the most of it.

The Knights improved to 1-5 overall and 1-0 in the PCAC. They will host Southwestern on Friday, September 23 at 3:15 p.m.
