Knights Earn 2-0 Victory Over L.A. Valley in Home Opener

After suffering an opening day loss at San Bernardino Valley, the Knights responded with a 2-0 home victory over L.A. Valley to even their record at 1-1.

Freshman midfielder Taylor Bergau got things started for City by taking the ball down the left side and crossing it into the mix. That's where sophomore midfielder Thelma Navarro brought it down just inside the top of box and fired in the Knights' first goal of the season.

The Knights' second goal came off a set piece. Alexis Huynh sent the ball into the box where L.A. Valley's goalkeeper couldn't grab hold of it. Rebecca Garcia took advantage of the loose ball and, with great composure, knocked it in from a difficult angle.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Buzby earned the shutout victory with seven saves.

The Knights play at home again on Wednesday, September 4 vs. Victor Valley at 3 p.m.
