Knights Fall to MSJC, 2-1

The Knights were looking to snap a 3-game losing skid, but fell just short with a 2-1 home loss to Mt. San Jacinto on Wednesday. Alexis Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with the Knights' only RBI.

Mount San Jacinto got on the board early with an unearned run in the top of the 1st.

Knights' catcher Taylor Hodge led the bottom 4th off with a double to left field and then reached third base on Gonzalez' single, but City wasn't able to take advantage and remained scoreless after four innings.

The Eagles added another unearned run in the top of the 6th to take a 2-0 lead, but the Knights responded with their first run in the bottom of that inning. Kim Figueroa and Carley Grant started the rally with back-to-back walks.

With one out, Gonzalez hit a single to right field that allowed Figueroa to cross home plate. Gonzalez and Grant moved into scoring positions on the throw home, but they were left stranded as Meli Memea lined into a double play to end the inning.

The Eagles had the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the 7th, but Knights' pitcher Ava Kopperschlager was able to get out of the jam unscathed. Unfortunately, the Knights couldn't get anyone on base in their final at bat and fell to 9-21 overall and 2-9 in the PCAC with the loss.

The Knights will play at Palomar on Friday at 1 p.m. and will be back home against San Bernardino on Wednesday, April 11.
