Knights go 1-2-1 in Opening Weekend


The SDCC softball team began its 2012 season at the Glendale Tournament last weekend and came away with a 1-2-1 record.

The Knights faced East L.A. in their opening game on Friday and won, 7-3. Alexa DaRosa went 2-for-4 and Lisa Pena went 2-for-3 with a home run. Pitcher Paige Nicolet earned the win.

In the second game of the day, the Knights fell behind, 7-3, but came back to tie it after a 3-run home run by Pena in the fifth inning. In the sixth, City took the 8-7 lead off an RBI single by Karla Ferreira, but time ran out and the game was called. The score was reverted back to what it was after the last full inning, which was a 7-7 tie.

On Saturday, the Knights fell to Santa Ana, 8-0, and then lost to their conference rivals Mesa, 6-3.
