Knights Power Past IVC In 10-0 Run-Rule Victory
Lisa Pena (3-4) started her seventh game of the season and limited Imperial Valley to just one hit, with four strikeouts, in three innings of work as she led the Knights to a 10-0 run-rule victory over visiting Imperial Valley. Pena also helped her own cause on offense by going 2-for-3 with one RBI and three runs.
Meghan Shaw went 2-for-2 with a triple, one RBI and three runs.
The Knights, who were looking to avenge a 6-0 loss at Imperial Valley on Feb. 22, jumped out to a 4-0 lead after earning four walks and two singles in the first inning. SDCC added two more run in the second inning on Shaw's triple to left field. Pena came around to score from first base and Shaw was able to round the bases after an error by IVC's third baseman Sissy Castillo.
The Knights scored another four runs in the third inning to take a commanding 10-0 lead that would hold the rest of the game. Pena and Lisa Ingels each had RBI singles which were followed by Jazmine Hamme's RBI fielder's choice and Crystal Hernandez' RBI single to right field.
Amanda Muller relieved Pena in the fourth inning and struck out three, while allowing two hits in the final two innings.
The win improved the Knights' overall record to 11-10-1 and PCAC record to 2-3.
