Six Knights Receive All-PCAC Honors


Six members of the SDCC softball team were honored by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference for their play during the 2013 season. Lisa Pena, Meghan Shaw, and Lisa Ingels Linqvist were selected to the All-PCAC First Team, while Jazmine Hamme was named to the All-PCAC Second Team for the 2013 season. Alex Ross and Crystal Hernandez were given Honorable Mention.

Pena, who is transferring to Aurora University in Illinois on an athletic scholarship, led the conference in batting average (.479) and hits (23), in 15 PCAC games. She also finished fifth in runs scored with 14. Pena went 4-5 in the circle with three complete games, including a five-inning no-hitter on March 16 vs. El Camino-Compton.

Shaw finished the PCAC season in the top 10 of nine different categories, including; batting average (.429), hits (18), RBI (14), runs (13), home runs (2), triples (3), slugging percentage (.738), on base percentage (.479), and stolen bases (5).

Ingels Linqvist had a .455 average with 10 hits and eight RBI in 22 at bats. She also had a .478 on base percentage.

Hamme, whose sister Jaclyn made All-PCAC with SDCC in 2010, hit .435 overall with nine doubles, four triples, and had a team-high five home runs. She will play for San Diego Christian College next year after accepting an athletic scholarship.

Ross hit .244 with 10 hits, two doubles, and four RBI in PCAC play. Hernandez had 14 hits, seven RBI, and six runs with a .350 average to make Honorable Mention along with Ross.
