Knights Beat Barstow, 14-2, At SDCC/MSJC Tourney
The Knights snapped a 3-game losing streak on Saturday by defeating Barstow, 14-2, in their first game of the San Diego City/Mt. San Jacinto tournament. Brianna Leigh-Pink went 3-for-3 with three RBI and Amanda Diaz went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.
Kiersten Scannell earned the win in the circle after giving up only five hits in her first appearance.
The Knights got off to a great start by scoring five runs in the first inning. Megan Shaw led the game off with a double. Carleen Casey was hit by a pitch and then both her and Shaw scored on a double by Leigh-Pink. Diaz got on with a single and was brought home along with Leigh-Pink on a double by Katie Dowdy.
Diaz put her stamp on the game in the second inning when her triple scored two runs. She then scored herself on a single by Katie Dowdy to give the Knights a 9-0 lead.
After adding a run in the third inning, a 3-run home run by Shaw highlighted a 4-run fourth inning to put the Knights ahead 14-1. Barstow scored a run in the fourth inning and a run in the fifth.Box Score
