Six Knights Receive All-PCAC Honors


Six members of the SDCC softball team were honored by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference for their play during the 2013 season. Lisa Pena, Meghan Shaw, and Lisa Ingels Linqvist were selected to the All-PCAC First Team, while Jazmine Hamme was named to the All-PCAC Second Team for the 2013 season. Alex Ross and Crystal Hernandez were given Honorable Mention.

Knights Rally Falls Short; Lose 16-12 to Grossmont


On any other day, 12 runs off 16 hits probably would've gotten the Knights a victory, but not today as they fell to Grossmont, 16-12, in the third and final meeting with the Griffins. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak against Grossmont that dates back to last season.

Knights Rally Back From 4-Run Deficit to Beat Mesa


It looked as though the Knights were going to suffer another run-rule defeat to Mesa when they fell behind, 4-0, after two innings, but the Knights rallied back to win, 6-5, and evened the season series with the Olympians at 1-1.

Pena Throws No-Hitter in 12-0 Victory


Lisa Pena became the first Knight in over two years to throw a no-hitter. On Saturday, she shut out El Camino-Compton, allowing just two walks while striking out four in the Knights' 12-0 road victory.

Knights Power Past IVC In 10-0 Run-Rule Victory


Lisa Pena (3-4) started her seventh game of the season and limited Imperial Valley to just one hit, with four strikeouts, in three innings of work as she led the Knights to a 10-0 run-rule victory over visiting Imperial Valley. Pena also helped her own cause on offense by going 2-for-3 with one RBI and three runs.

Knights Lose to Southwestern, 9-5


The Knights tied it in the bottom of the fifth, but Southwestern scored four run in the top of the seventh and defeated SDCC, 9-5. Crystal Hernandez went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Knights Erase 3-Run Deficit to Beat Cuesta, 10-7


The Knights managed only one run in a 10-1 loss to Palomar a day earlier, but scored in every inning on Saturday to get back in the win column with a 10-7 home victory over Cuesta. Jazmine Hamme went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI, while Amanda Muller (8-5) earned her eighth win of the season after allowing one earned run on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Knights Come From Behind to Run-Rule Grossmont, 10-2


SDCC scored 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined to come from behind and run-rule the Grossmont Grifins, 10-2, in the Knights' conference home opener. Jazmine Hamme went 2-for-3 with a home run in the fourth inning that sparked the Knights comeback. Amanda Muller (8-4) earned her eighth win in the circle.

Knights Go 2-2-1 at SDCC Tournament


The Knights opened the 18th Annual SDCC Tournament, held at Miramar's Hourglass Fields with a tie vs. Mt. San Jacinto and a loss to Napa Valley in pool play on Friday, but recovered with wins over Ventura and Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday that put them in the championship game of the Cardinal bracket. Unfortunately, the Knights lost to Rio Hondo, 6-2, in the final.

Knights Shutout Chaffey, 7-0, In Final Home Game


Paige Nicolet pitched a complete game shutout in the Knights' 7-0 home win over Chaffey (26-8-2) on Saturday afternoon. Nicolet allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out seven in the victory.
