The Knights opened the 18th Annual SDCC Tournament, held at Miramar's Hourglass Fields with a tie vs. Mt. San Jacinto and a loss to Napa Valley in pool play on Friday, but recovered with wins over Ventura and Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday that put them in the championship game of the Cardinal bracket. Unfortunately, the Knights lost to Rio Hondo, 6-2, in the final.
Paige Nicolet pitched a complete game shutout in the Knights' 7-0 home win over Chaffey (26-8-2) on Saturday afternoon. Nicolet allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out seven in the victory.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Nicole Clites had a deep hit over the right fielder's head that scored Lisa Pena for the Knights' 10th run. Since it gave them an 8-run lead, the mercy rule went into effect and the game ended.
The Knights advanced to the championship game of the Cardinal Bracket at the 17th Annual SDCC Softball Tournament, but fell to College of the Desert, 5-2.
The 17th Annual SDCC Softball Tournament will be held at Miramar's Hourglass Fields on February 17-18.
Fifteen team will participate in this year's tournament. Pool play will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. The Knights will open with Santa Barbara and then will face Napa Valley at 2 p.m.
After pool play, the teams will go into a single elimination tournament on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

The SDCC softball team played two games on Saturday and won both. First they beat Glendale, 7-1, and then followed that up with an 8-0 win over L.A. Pierce.
Against Glendale, Paige Nicolet pitched a complete game and gave up no earned runs while striking out four. Nicolet also went 2-for-3 with three RBI. McKenna Clarke went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs. Alexa DaRosa also went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
