Knights Sweep IVC For 12th Straight Win

The Knights took one step closer to claiming their first-ever conference championship with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-15) sweep of Cuyamaca on Friday evening. Their 12th straight victory put them in a position in which they need one more PCAC South win to secure at least a share of the league title.

Brielle McKinnon led the Knights with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Lyssette Serna added nine kills and 18 digs.

Breana Reid played setter for most of the match and recorded 28 assists to go with nine digs.

City improved to 19-1 overall and 8-0 in the PCAC South. They have two more conference matches remaining, both of which are on the road.

They will travel to Mesa on Wednesday and then head to Grossmont on Friday. Winning both matches will earn the Knights the outright championship. City already defeated Mesa, 3-0, on October 13 and Grossmont, 3-1, on October 18.

The Knights currently hold the third longest winning streak in the state with 12 in a row. They also have the third best record in the state. Only Cabrillo (22-1) and Irvine Valley (18-0) have been better.
