Knights Get 10th Straight Win Over Southwestern
The Knights got their second win in a row after sweeping Southwestern, 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-19), on Wednesday. It was also the 10th straight win over Southwestern, a streak that dates back to the 2007 season.
Jasmine Wong and Tessa Butterfield both recorded double-doubles as they each had 10 kills and 15 digs. Butterfield also added five service aces on the night.
SDCC got off to a strong start in the first set as they jumped out to an 8-1 lead. Southwestern got back into it by closing the gap to 16-12, but the Knights regained control of the set with a 6-0 run and eventually won, 25-14.
The Knights held a one-point lead in the second game at 12-11 and ran off seven straight points to gain a comfortable 19-11 lead. The Jaguars made a final push, but SDCC held them off and won, 25-17.
Southwestern held a 9-6 advantage in the third set, but the Knights turned it around with a 10-3 run to go up 16-12. The Jaguars got back with in one point, but City finished strong and won the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-0.
The Knights improved to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the PCAC. The last time the Knights lost to Southwestern was on October 17, 2007.
