Brochures, applications, financial aid information and the timeline are now available to study in Salamanca, Spain with CITRUS COLLEGE in Glendora, CA (L.A. area). Salamanca is known as the Oxford of the Spanish-speaking world and for its stunning architecture. (The facade of the Musuem of Art in Balboa Park is a replica of a building in Salamanca). Classes offered will be (Citrus College course numbers) Speech 100 (Interpersonal Communication), Speech 101 (Public Speaking), Speech 103 (Argumentation and Debate, and Speech 106 (Small Group Communication), Political Science 103 (American Government), Political Science 108 (Political Theory), Political Science 105 (Comparative Politics) and Political Science 116 (International Relations). Spanish 101, 102, 201 and 202 will be offered in addition to Spanish 140 (beginning Spanish conversation) and Spanish 141 (intermediate Spanish conversation). Spanish civilization (History 127) is required of all students. Students will be able to take one on-line class from a prescribed quite lengthy list of classes. Housing arrangements include living with a Spanish host family (with breakfast daily and lunch and dinner Monday - Friday) or sharing a fully furnished self-catering apartment with kitchen facilities. SUMMER MANDARIN LANGUAGE IMMERSION OR CREDIT-BEARING INTERNSHIPS IN SHANGHAI,CHINA - Spend 5 weeks studying Mandarin Chinese in China’s biggest and most dynamic city, Shanghai. It has a rare combination of deep-rooted history, with thousand year old architecture, paired with modern designs and skyscrapers. An optional internship extension is available.
Semester opportunity also available with liberal arts classes in Chinese history, culture, politics, international business, the arts, psychology and social behavior, and any subject that affects China, America, and the world. Mandarin language classes also. No more than 15 students per class which immerse Chinese and American students in the same classes. CREDIT BEARING INTERNSHIPS IN VALENCIA, SPAIN - Spend 8 or 12 weeks year-round in Valencia, Spain participating in a non-paid internship in just about any field you can think of. Spanish language instruction is included as necessary. Non-Spanish and low-level Spanish speakers can also be accommodated. Housing is in student apartments in the city center or with a Spanish host family. There are few cities like Valencia, able to harmoniously combine the remnants of its farthest past, dating to the year 138 BC, with the most innovative and avant-garde buildings from the new millennium.
