Brochures, application forms and financial aid information are now available for the Fall 2012 study abroad program to London, England. City College is partnering with Citrus College in Glendora, CA (L.A. area) for this great opportunity. Tom Callinan from Rio Hondo College will teach English 294 (Introduction to Shakespeare), English 293 (Children's Literature), English 210 (Creative Writing), and Art 199 (Motion Picture Appreciation. Gerhard Peters from Citrus College will teach Political Science 103 (American Government and Politics), Political Science 104 (Introduction to Political Science), Political Science 105 (Comparative Politics) and Political Science 116 (International Relations). British Life and Culture (History 120) is a required class. Students will choose three other classes from those taught by the California instructors in addition to which there will be a variety of on-line classes to choose from (one on line class maximum). Ask for the list of on-line classes. Students will have the option of living in a shared homestay with breakfast five days a week or in a fully furnished apartment with kitchen facilities. SALAMANCA, SPAIN - SPRING 2013
This opportunity is offered by Citrus College in Glendora, CA (L.A. area). Salamanca is known as the Oxford of the Spanish-speaking world and its stunning architecture. (The facade of the Musuem of Art in Balboa Park is a replica of a building in Salamanca). Three instructors from southern California community colleges will be selected to teach their classes in Salamanca. Spanish 101, 102, 201 and 202 will be offered in addition to two 3-unit conversation classes. Spanish civilization is required of all students. The other course offerings will be announced when they are available. Housing arrangements include living with a Spanish host family (with breakfast daily and lunch Monday - Friday) or sharing a fully furnished apartment with kitchen facilities. SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE: During Fall 2012, Santa Barbara City College will offer students the opportunity to study and live for one semester in SANTIAGO DE CHILE. Chile is a South American country of outstanding natural beauty, which boasts many beautiful lakes, mountains, glaciers, hot springs, volcanoes and national parks. The current political and social stabilities in Chile, in addition to the still relatively low cost of living and good rate of monetary exchange, makes it an interesting, safe and economic place for students. Participants will take 8 units of Spanish language selected from Spanish 101 (Begining Spanish I), Spanish 102 (Beginning Spanish II), Spanish 103 (Intermediate Spanish I), Spanish 104 (Intermediate Spanish II), Spanish 150 (Advanced Spanish I) or Spanish 160 (Advanced SpanishII) plus one other class, either Spanish 138 (Latin American Culture) or English 232 (World Literature). PASADENA CITY COLLEGE: Spend Fall 2012 in FLORENCE, ITALY, the seat of the Renaissance. Visit some of the most famous art museums in the world, gaze at the stunning Michelangelo statue of David, feast on the famous Duomo (cathedral), shop on the Ponte Vecchio, and walk the streets that Dante, Michelangelo and other florentines walked.
