What we offer: 

        • New Students - make a personal connection to the campus and the resources available to you.  Start by completing the Steps to Student Success:
    1. Submit an Online Application.
    2. View and complete the Online Orientation.
    3. Take the English and Math Assessments for appropriate placement - NOTE:  YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE ORIENTATION AND SUBMIT PRINTED PROOF OF COMPLETION BEFORE SCHEDULING THE ASSESSMENT EXAM.
    4. Attend a New Student Educational Planning session and complete an Abbreviated Education Plan.
        • Personal Counseling - when "life" gets in the way visit us to talk and explore ways to succeed in a safe and confidential environment.
        • Career Counseling & Life Planning - Visit us for advice and guidance on choosing the best major and career path for you.
        • Academic & Transfer Counseling  
    1. Create a Student Education Plan - which courses should I be taking
    2. Transfer Planning - what are the right steps
    3. Student Education Planning Workshops - meet with a counselor for a group advising session to create your Student Education Plan (SEP).
    4. Academic Success/Probation Workshops - I'm having a tough time in college and am now on academic and/or progress probation, or I have been disqualified.  What does that mean?  What do I do now?

The San Diego City College Counseling Department is an important partner with students in the education process. We provide the following valuable services to help students achieve their goals and understand the campus community and college culture:

COUNSELING SCHOLARSHIPS

There are three $500.00 scholarships (Gloria Heredia, Dr. Art Jackson, and Lemuel Lemons) sponsored by the Counseling Department available to students from September to December each year. Check out the Student Affairs scholarship site for more information.
