what is first year services
The First Year Services (FYS) office provides support to all students who are in their first year at San Diego City College. After applying to City College, all new students are required to contact the FYS office to schedule their mandatory Math and English assessments, and first semester education plan sessions.
The First Year Service Office also houses the First Year Experience (FYE) program, an opportunity offered to specially eligible first time students. Participation in FYE comes with additional benefits. Click here to review the benefits and eligibility requirements for FYE participation.
5 STEP NEW STUDENT ADMISSION PROCESS
|1. Apply for Admissions & (Financial Aid if applicable)|
|2. Request evaluation of previous college transcripts (if applicable)|
|3. Complete Online Orientation|
Visit www.sdcity.edu, select “Online Services” then “Online Orientation (Virtual Tour) Online Orientation.
|4. Complete English and Math Assessment|
|5. Sign up for First Semester Education Plan session|

A NEW student will ONLY be allowed to meet with a counselor at a scheduled First Semester Education plan session, and after he/she has completed the online orientation and the English and Math assessments.
