Online Refresher Courses

1. Register for your Math 15 refresher course.

Before the class starts (week two of the semester) register online with Reg-e as you would for a normal class. There are no prerequisites for Math 15 courses and they can be taken concurrently with other math courses. If the course fills, we will add more seats. After the course begins, you need an add code from the current Math 15 instructor.

2. Log on to WebCT.

Once you are registered for the Math 15 refresher course, log onto WebCT to read the syllabus and orientation. You will be prompted for a Username and Password.

Username: CSID (xxxxxxx)
Password: Birthdate (mm/dd/yyyy)

3. Read the Syllabus and Orientation.

Click on the Math 15 course that appears. This takes you to the class Home Page. Here you'll find important resources and information about your refresher course. Click on the Syllabus and read it.

4. Write down the course code from the syllabus.

Write down the first course code. You will need the second, geometry course code when you finish 90% of the algebra component of the class.

5. View the orientation.

Click on the middle picture of the Home Page to watch the orientation movie. The orientation movie will give you detailed instructions on the registration process as well as what to expect in the class.

6. Sign up at the ALEKS website.

Once you see the orientation, you can click on the ALEKS link to reach the class materials. Since this is a different website, you'll need to sign up and create a new account. Click where it reads, “SIGN UP NOW!” Enter the course code you wrote down from the syllabus in the following page. Aleks will prompt you to see if you are taking the correct course. Click on “Continue”.

7. Purchase an Access Code.

On the following page, you will be asked to enter an Access Code, you will need to buy one from bookstore or online. If you buy the Access Code at the school bookstore, it may be covered by financial aid, check the financial aid office for details. Keep in mind that although this is a 1-unit class, the time and effort required to pass a refresher course is more like that of a 4-unit class.

8. Enter Your Access Code.

Once you receive the Access Code, enter it into the following fields: Before you can start, ALEKS will take you through an assessment to determine your strengths and weaknesses. Be sure to set apart about 40 minutes for this initial assessment. Now you can access the ALEKS course materials!
