HOW TO TRANSFER TO A MAth Center COURSE After the Drop Deadline

After the regular classes drop deadline, if you wish to transfer to the Math center courses and add codes are still available, follow this instructions:

If you want to transfer to a Math Center, don’t drop your current class. Once you obtain the add code and transfer petition for the new course, have it signed by the professor, then take it to the Records office in A-109 where they will withdraw you from your previous course and add the self-paced course at the same time. The Records office will transfer your course fee so that you don’t have to pay twice for the course. If the transfer is completed after the drop deadline, you will receive a W, but it is a “soft’” W (part of a transfer), and it will not affect your academic record.

If you aren’t going to be able to complete the transfer by the deadline, make sure you withdrawal from your current course yourself, or you will receive a letter grade for that course.

To obtain an add code, follow the procedures in Registration.

Transferring to a Math Center course gives you a second chance with extended time; however, there are some limitations of which you need to be aware. First, you must maintain a minimum weekly attendance (4 hours for Math 38; 5 hours for Math 46 and 96). Second, you need to complete at least four chapters this semester in order to continue in the course. That is, you will be withdrawn from the course with a grade of W if you do not keep your attendance up to date and complete the required four chapters by the deadline.

Transferring to a new course may mean that you need to purchase the required materials for the new course. For the Math Center courses, your existing textbook will be accepted. The Math Center uses the same core text as the other on-campus courses, just a different bookcover. If you haven't purchased a MyMathLab access code, you'll need to purchase that to take a class in the Math Center. You can not take tests without the MyMathLab access code keyed to the Math Center books.

Bottom line: don't even think about transferring if you are not prepared to purchase the required materials.

If you have any questions, check the Math Center Website first.
