Edith Ortiz Díaz is an archaeologist with the Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas, UNAM, in Mexico City. She specializes in communication routes, trade and exchange between pre-Hispanic societies of Mesoamerica during the Pre-conquest period; communication routes and colonial roads from the XVI to XIX century; markets and commerce between Indians and Spanish during the Spanish colonization in southern Mexico; and the characterization of archaeological material: ceramic and metals.
