Course Descriptions: Arabic

85 Spoken Arabic 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 56 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Level R5.
This course is designed for students without any prior knowledge of Arabic. It may be used for travel, business, and government service in Arab countries. The course does not intend to teach students how to read or write using the Arabic alphabet. Credit does not apply to the associate degree.

101 First Course in Arabic 5 hours, 5 units
Advisory: English 56 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Level R5.
An introduction to the Arabic language, written and spoken. Some instruction on Arabic civilization and culture. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/ univ.; UC.

102 Second Course in Arabic 5 hours, 5 units
Prerequisite: Arabic 101 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent.
A continuation of Arabic 101. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

296 Individual Instruction in Arabic 3 hours lab, 1 unit
Credit/No Credit Only

Limitation on Enrollment: Enrollment in an approved related course; Must obtain an Add Code from instructor for registration.
This course employs self-paced, multi-media systems to assist students to reach specific learning objectives, and is intended to be supplementary to designated courses. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.
