Dr. Maurice J. Loiseau has worked for the San Diego Community College District for many years now.  He has earned a B.A., M.A, and Ph.D. in French language and literature from three nationally accredited institutions, such as Brigham Young University and Tulane University, and has a wide range of experience teaching French language, culture and literature at all levels.  In addition to this experience in educational institutions, Furthermore Dr. Loiseau has also experience in the private sector, working as a translator, a software globalization specialist, and a developer of software applications for English and French.  Finally Dr. Roseau believes strongly that, in studying and teaching a foreign language, teachers and students may come to a greater understanding of their own language(s) and culture(s) mirrored in the targeted language, and undoubtedly will reach a better understanding towards the other people of various and different nationalities.

I came to the United States  in 1978 to learn English. My plan was to be in the US only for 6 months but my curiosity for the culture and the people kept me here. Throughout my years as a student I realized that teaching was a path I wanted to pursue. I earned my degrees from two American universities in Pennsylvania and California . I enjoy teaching and I am thrilled to have made it my career.  I feel very grateful to be doing a job that I love.  I am excited to be there for students to inspire them in their learning process, allowing them to become thinking, contributing members of society Also, by sharing their comments, suggestions, ideas and personal talents, students are showing me that there is always more to be discovered.

When I am not teaching, I love to spend time in the mountains, walking through the forest with my loved ones. I enjoy reading French historical novels and listening to music. I cherish the time that I have with my friends and family
