Course Descriptions: Italian

101 First Course in Italian 5 hours, 5 units
Advisory: English 56 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Level R5.
Limitation on Enrollment: This course is not open to students with credit for or concurrent enrollment in Italian 100.

Correct pronunciation, conversation of everyday life and functional grammar. Practice in reading and writing. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/ univ.; UC.

102 Second Course in Italian 5 hours, 5 units
Prerequisite: Italian 101 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent.
Limitation on Enrollment: This course is not open to students with credit for or concurrent enrollment in Italian 100.

Continuation of Italian 101. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

201 Third Course in Italian 5 hours, 5 units
Prerequisite: Italian 102 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent.
A continuation of Italian 102. A continuation of grammar, and abundant exercises in hearing, speaking, reading, and writing Italian. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

210 The Grammar of Spoken Italian I 3 hours, 3 units
Italian 210 is designed to give students abundant practice in developing oral and written fluency in the language. Topics providing basis for discussion and prepared talks will include everyday life situations, current event, and culture. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

211 The Grammar of Spoken Italian II 3 hours, 3 units
Italian 211 is a continuation of Italian 210 at a more advanced level. Topics providing basis for discussion and prepared talks will include everyday life situations, current events, and culture. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

290 Independent Study Hours by Arrangement; 1-3 units
Limitation on Enrollment: Must obtain an Add Code from instructor for registration.
For intermediate students who wish to work on special projects. This course may be taken four times with different content for a maximum of six units. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC transfer limitations. See a counselor.

296 Individual Instruction in Italian 3 hours lab, 1 unit
Credit/No Credit Only

Limitation on Enrollment: Enrollment in an approved related course; Must obtain an Add Code from instructor for registration.
This course employs self-paced, multimedia systems to assist students to reach specific learning objectives, and is intended to be supplementary to designated courses. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.
