Online Tutoring
Starting in the Fall
2009 semester, the Tutorial/ Learning Center is changing our
online tutoring platform to CCC Confer. The new platform
includes free dial-in phone, in addition to the virtual
whiteboard.
Currently, we will only
be providing online tutoring in math. We may add more
subjects as the semester progresses.
Online Tutoring is
for students
already registered with the Tutorial/
Learning Center, and it is by
appointment only. If
you have not registered, please come in to our Center
located in L-205, in the Academic Success Center.
Once you have registered
with us, you will need to
make an appointment
for online tutoring either in person or by calling our
Center at (619)388-3685.
After you have
registered with us and made an appointment for online
tutoring, you will be given an
appointment slip
with the following information:

Date and time of your
session.
-
A link which will
send you to the room you will be receiving tutoring in.

A toll free number
that you will call in order to speak to a tutor via a phone
and a six digit code called a participant code, which you
will need to dial when you call the toll free number.
How to Get Started with Online Tutoring
Before you start online
tutoring, you should check if your computer is ready for
online tutoring. Please follow this link and follow the
instructions:

Now that you have
checked that your computer is ready for online tutoring,
please follow the following instructions.
1.
Click the link that was sent to
you by email.
2.
A screen will prompt you to
enter your name, or any user name that you like.
3.
Once you enter your name, you
will see a pop up screen, which looks like a white board
that will connect you to a tutor. Once you have arrived at
this page, you are ready to start online tutoring. A tutor
will contact you shortly afterwards.
How to Speak with a Tutor Online
Students will need a
telephone or a head set (preferably a USB type) and a six
digit participant code to dialogue with a tutor in the
online tutoring session.

If you are using the phone,
please follow the following instructions:
1. Dial 1-888-450-4821
2.
Enter the six-digit code and
the pound key # when asked to do so.
3. Say your name and press the
pound key #.

For the headset user, just plug
your headset jacks to your computer.
