80 Introduction to Pipefitting
2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab, 3 units
Grade Only
Advisory: Plumbing (PLBG) 65B with a grade of "C" or better, or
equivalent.
Limitation on enrollment: Concurrent enrollment in seven units of
credit (must include related Pipefitting Trade option and may include work
experience credit) for a fall or spring semester and/or one other class
during a summer session. This course is not open to students with credit
for Pipefitting (PLPF) 325.
This course is designed to give the Pipefitting student an introduction to
blueprint drawings and detail sheets, piping systems, standards and
specifications, and trade math. This course also includes advanced
blueprint reading and trade math as well as motorized equipment and above
ground pipe installation. Associate Degree Credit.
85 Intermediate Pipefitting
2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab, 3 units

Advisory: Pipefitting (PLPF) 80 with a grade of "C" or better, or
equivalent.
Limitation on enrollment: Concurrent enrollment in seven units of
credit (must include related Pipefitting Trade option and may include work
experience credit) for a fall or spring semester and/or one other class
during a summer session. This course is not open to students with credit
for Pipefitting (PLPF) 330.
This course is designed to give the Pipefitting student instruction in
pipe hangers and supports, identifying and installing valves, field
routing and vessel trim, spring can supports, planning work activities and
performing non-destructive examination testing. Associate Degree
Credit.
90 Advanced Pipefitting
2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab, 3 units

Advisory: Pipefitting (PLPF) 85 with a grade of "C" or better, or
equivalent.
Limitation on enrollment: Concurrent enrollment in seven units of
credit (must include related Pipefitting Trade option and may include work
experience credit) for a fall or spring semester and/or one other class
during a summer session. This course is not open to students with credit
for Pipefitting (PLPF) 335.
This course is designed to give the pipefitting student instruction in
advanced pipe fabrication, aligning pipe to rotating equipment, steam
traps, in-line specialties, special piping, hot taps, and maintaining
valves. Associate Degree Credit.
270 Pipefitting Work Experience
Lab hours by arrangement, 1-4 units
Grade Only
Advisory: English 50 and 55, each with a grade of "C" or better, or
equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W4 and R4.
Limitation on enrollment: Concurrent enrollment in seven units of
credit (must include related Pipefitting Trade option and may include work
experience credit) for a fall or spring semester and/or one other class
during a summer session.
The Pipefitting Work Experience program is designed to provide an
opportunity to extend occupational learning through employment and
coordinate the on-the-job training and the classroom instruction. The
goals and learning objectives will be designed by the student
cooperatively with the employer and work experience
instructor/coordinator. Associate Degree Credit.
