102 The American Political System
3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or
equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
This comprehensive survey course, designed for students intending to
transfer to a four-year college or university, provides an in depth study
of the American political system. Both national and California experiences
are studied from the perspective of constitutional frameworks,
institutions, issues, and policies. NOTE If used to satisfy the American
Institutions requirement, Political Science 102 may not be used to satisfy
the SDCC District's three-unit social science requirement. Political
Science 102 is required for completion of the major in political science.
Political Science 102 may be offered in a self-paced format. The
completion of the Political Science 101 and 102 sequence fulfills both the
SDCC District's American Institutions requirement and the SDCC District's
three unit social science GE requirement. Transfer Credit: CSU and/

103 Comparative Politics
3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or
equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
Limitation on Enrollment: This course is not open to students with credit
for Political Science 130.
A general study of selected governments, their development, organization,
administration, and politics. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.;
UC.
140 Contemporary International Politics
3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or
equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
Limitation on Enrollment: This course is not open to students with credit
for Political Science 140A or 140B or 140C.
This is an introductory course stressing the techniques of analysis of the
basic factors making for conflict and adjustment in contemporary
international relations. Nationalism, imperialism, economic relations,
war, diplomacy, international law and international organization will be
considered. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.
