101 General Psychology 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
A survey of the principles and concepts which are basic to understanding human behavior. Intended to give the individual some insight into his/her own motives and activities. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/ univ. UC Transfer Credit: Psychology (PSYC) 101 combined with Black Studies 104 or Chicano Studies 105: maximum credit, one course.

135 Marriage and Family Relationships 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
Discussion and evaluation of behaviors of courtship, engagement, marriage and family life; the contribution of science to an understanding of these experiences and the options available. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

137 Human Sexual Behavior 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
An exploration of the psychological, social, and physiological dimensions of human sexual behavior. The course will review specific theories and research findings, and consider their relevance for individual sexual development and functioning. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ. UC Transfer Credit: Psychology (PSYCH) 137 and Black Studies 165: maximum credit, one course.

155 Introduction to Personality 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
A survey of the basic theories of personality and their applications of psychotherapy and psychological testing. The basic theories include trait/type, psychoanalysis, humanism, and behavioral or social learning approaches. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

161 Introduction to Counseling 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
Survey of basic counseling concepts used to maintain and change behavior. Emphasis on experiential learning in the skills of effective relating and problem-solving. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.

211 Learning 3 hours, 3 units
Prerequisite: Psychology 101 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent. Limitation on Enrollment: This course is not open to students with credit for Psychology 210.
Basic principles and research in animal and human learning. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

258 Behavioral Science Statistics 3 hours, 3 units
Prerequisite: Mathematics 96 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Level M50. Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
Quantitative methods in the behavioral sciences. Frequency distributions, percentiles, central tendency and variability, application of the normal probability distribution, correlation, and elementary significance testing procedures. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ. UC Transfer Credit: Psychology (PSYC) 258 combined with Mathematics 119 or Biology 200: maximum credit, one course.

260 Introduction to Physiological Psychology
3 hours, 3 units

Prerequisite: Psychology 101 with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent.
Introduction to the physiological determinants of behavior, including behavior evolution, the nervous system and endocrine glands; and their relationship to perception, learning, motivation, emotion and personality. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/ univ.; UC.

290 Independent Study Hours by Arrangement; 1-3 units
Limitation on Enrollment: Must obtain an Add Code from instructor for registration.
For students who wish to study special problems. This course may be taken four times with different content for a maximum of six units. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC transfer limitations. See a counselor.

296 Individual Instruction in Psychology
3 hours lab, 1 unit Credit/No Credit Only

Limitation on Enrollment: Enrollment in an approved related course; Must obtain an Add Code from instructor for registration.
This course employs self-paced multimedia systems to assist students to reach specific learning objectives, and is intended to be supplementary to designated courses. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.
