101 Principles of Sociology 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
The basic facts, concepts and generalizations of sociology. The scientific study of social interaction and organization with special reference to present-day America. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/ univ.; UC transfer limitations. See a counselor.

110 Contemporary Social Problems 3 hours, 3 units
Advisory: English 51 and 56, each with a grade of "C" or better, or equivalent, or Assessment Skill Levels W5 and R5.
Identification and analysis of present-day social problems in the United States, with emphasis on sociological factors involved. Scientific method of approach to and criteria for evaluating proposals for social betterment. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC.

290 Independent Study Hours by Arrangement; 1-3 units
Limitation on Enrollment: Must obtain an Add Code from instructor for registration.
For students who wish to study special problems. This course may be taken four times with different content for a maximum of six units. Transfer Credit: CSU and/or private coll/univ.; UC transfer limitations. See a counselor.
