If you do not have a smart classroom, EC staff will discuss the services offered by the English Center and answer questions in a more free-form fashion. EC staff will also hand out fliers.

EC ORIENTATIONS IN THE ENGLISH CENTER

Please bring or email your class roster with you for our records. Request EC Computer Lab Space

CLASSROOM SPACE IN THE COMPUTER LAB
If you want to utilize our computer lab as a classroom, please submit a special request in the notes section. Scheduling is at the discretion of the English Center Coordinator. All requests for lab space will be reviewed in the order that they are received. Please note that the lab will remain open to other students and tutors.

Request POP-IN Tutoring Service

Services are based on tutor availablilty. Submited requests need to be placed a minimum of 48 business hours prior to the requested date and time. Please include the class CRN number along with the Course Name to expedite processing.

Pop-In Tutoring is a three step process:
1)    Fill out the POP-IN Tutoring request as specifically as possible, attaching all necessary information, prompts, handouts, and directions.
2)    Receive confirmation from the English Center (schedule an optional meeting with a tutor if desired).
3)    Tutor(s) arrive at your class and function as needed.

As the course offerings for English 101/31 (our designated course for SIs) expand, we are working to provide the best support possible for everyone. POP-IN Tutoring is an alternative to the traditional SI Tutor who is always embedded in your class. Highly trained English Center tutors are available to be embedded in your classroom for specific dates and times as requested.  Tutors can assist with a variety of activities including workshops, group work, paper feedback, and more.

Hold Office Hours in the EC

Instructors across the curriculum are welcome to hold their office hours in the main room of the English Center! We will post all faculty office hours under the EC's Student Resources page. Please keep in mind that this is not a space reservation.

Offer or Request a Workshop

OFFER A WORKSHOP of your own design to students across the curriculum! or EC staff can lead workshops for your students on a variety of English-related topics, at any level offered by San Diego City College. We have a list of open workshops posted here each semester, but if you would like to conduct a specific workshop for your class, you may do so at the discretion of the English Center Coordinator. All requests for workshops will be reviewed in the order that they are received.

Make a Special Request

If there is any other way in which the English Center can support your pedagogical goals, please do not hesitate to ask us.
