Dear Colleagues and
Friends:
Recently, community colleges have received increasing
media coverage nationally in recognition of the
important role they play in America€™s economy. In his
address at Hudson Valley Community College this morning,
President Barack Obama underscored that message, and
others have begun to do so as well.
At the same time, massive budget cuts have
undermined these messages and intentions to support the
work of community colleges. This
recent news
clip from MSNBC provides an excellent profile of
these issues, based on the experience of Miami Dade
College, which is one of our 18 sister institutions in
the national League for Innovation.
I thought you would
find this informative.

Novell
H1N1((Swiine)) Vaccine And
The Seasonal (Routine Yearly)
Flu Vaccine
Every flu
season has the potential to
cause considerable illness,
doctor's visits,
hospitalizations and deaths. CDC
is concerned that the new H1N1
flu virus could result in a
particularly severe flu season
this year..
Vaccines are the best tool we
have to prevent influenza.
You will need to protect
yourself against seasonal flu
AND H1N1 Flu this fall.
CDC
wants people to get vaccinated
against seasonal influenza as
soon as vaccines become
available:
Student Health Services at City
just got their seasonal flu
vaccine doses delivered today.
$10 for students, and $12 for
faculty/staff.
Student Health Services Hours
The
seasonal flu vaccine is unlikely
to provide protection against
novel H1N1 influenza. The
http://www.sdcity.edu/studentresources/healthservices/mentalhealth.asp coming
novel H1N1 vaccine is not
intended to replace the seasonal
flu vaccine €“ it is intended
to be used along-side the
seasonal flu vaccine.
Get your
seasonal vaccine as soon as you
can. Don't wait until later this
fall if you can get the seasonal
flu vaccine now!
Stay tuned
for information on the H1N1
vaccine. San Diego Public Health
Department has notified us that
the
H1N1 vaccine will be FREE. |
