The
Nisei Diploma Project
*********************************
Q: What is the Nisei Diploma Project?
A: The Nisei Diploma Project was initiated by
Assembly Bill 37 authorizing California public
institutions to award honorary degrees to American
citizens of Japanese ancestry who were college students
during World War II, and were forced to leave college
and relocate to internment camps due to Executive Order
9066.
Q: Who qualifies for an honorary degree?
A: If you or a family member was enrolled at
San Diego City College
in 1942 and
affected by Executive Order 9066 (internment), then you
or a surviving family member may be eligible for an
honorary degree.
Q: Where can I get more information?
A: Please send an e-mail request for additional
information to:
nisei@sdccd.edu
Q: When will the honorary degrees be
awarded?
A: Honorary degrees will be awarded at the San Diego
City College commencement ceremony each year. |
