Peter
Gregory is in his second year as the Head Coach of the
men's cross country team at San Diego City College. Gregory
came to SDCC as an assistant coach in 2007 after spending five years (2002-2007) as cross
country head coach at Southwestern College (Chula Vista,
Calif.). While at Southwestern, Gregory led the women's team
to the Pacific Coast Conference championship in five
straight seasons (2002-06) and also led them to two fourth
place finishes at the State Championships. Gregory also
coached three student-athletes to State championships in the
1500m and 10,000m while serving as Head Coach of the track
team at Southwestern from 2005-07.
Gregory has competed in and
finished 54 major marathons, including 17 Boston Marathons
and 12 Los Angeles Marathons. He competed in the Division
III Nationals in cross country (1987-89) while earning his
bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of
Massachusetts. Gregory has been competing in both track and
cross country since the age of 11 and still competes in many
national and local road races and meets. He has also been
fortunate enough to have been coached by the legendary Bill
Squires, a National Distance Running Hall of Famer.
Gregory has coached at the last
three Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia (2000), Athens,
Greece (2004) and Beijing, China (2008).
In addition to his bachelor's
degree, Gregory has obtained his M.A. in Physical Education
from Azuza Pacific University and his M.S. in Exercise
Physiology from California University of Pennsylvania.
He enjoys archery, hiking,
playing percussion, and spending time with his family. His
philosophy is "Everyone Improves." |
