Knights Lose In Extra Innings,
2-1 |
|
Pitcher Steffany McCoy gave up one
earned run, five hits, and struck out five, but that wasn't enough
against Citrus College. Citrus scored the game-winning run in the
eighth inning with two outs. SDCC threatened in the bottom of the
inning with runners in scoring position, but could not generate the
tying run. |

City Edged In Season Opener,
6-5 |
|
SDCC softball opened up its 2006
campaign with a 6-5 loss at home to Mt. San Jacinto. Freshman
Steffany McCoy pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts, but
the defense behind her didn't help her by committing three errors.
City came out strong with a lead-off
base hit by Freshman Alycia Delgado that sparked a two-run first
inning. Another run was scored in the second inning on an RBI triple
by Marissa George. The Knights added two more runs in the third to
go ahead 5-2. One of those runs was singled in by Lupe Balajadia and
the other by Alicia Penner as she doubled in Rachel Alderman.
Mt. San Jacinto scored two runs in
the second inning and four in the fourth, all with two outs. |
