7/22/2006 - Men's Volleyball
Brent Crouch Named Head Coach
Brent Crouch has been named head coach of the brand new men's volleyball program at San Diego City College.
Crouch competed at Texas A&M University and is currently a player in the Association of Volleyball Professionals. In 2005, he coached the University of Oregon men's volleyball team to a 15th place finish in Division 1-AA. He has a multitude of high school, club and camp experience. At the end of this summer, Crouch will have completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy.
Play is set to begin in the spring semester of 2007.
 
6/7/2006 - Women's Basketball
Tonya Alleyne Hired as Head Coach
The Women's Basketball program took a big step in its return to SDCC this fall as Athletics Director Cassie Macias hired Tonya Alleyne as head coach.
Alleyne brings head coaching experience from Arcadia University and served as an assistant at the University of South Carolina and Fresno State University. She also has experience from working with the American Basketball League and currently has her own Freelance Video Production and Post Production business.
Alleyne received her Bachelor's an Master's degrees from Seton Hall where she also played from 1987-92.
 

Intercollegiate Athletics
Drawing from a student body of 13,000, San Diego City College offers a growing intercollegiate sports program that features:

  • 11 intercollegiate teams.
     
  • Experienced coaches whose talents have taken them to the Olympics and professional levels in their sports;
     
  • Facilities that include a state-of-the-art fitness center; baseball, soccer, and softball fields; a gymnasium for volleyball and badminton; tennis courts; access to nearby Balboa Park; and a new $11 million gymnasium.

Located in the heart of one of America's most exciting cities, San Diego City College has offered opportunities for approximately 150 student-athletes in past years - a number that will grow as the college nears its centennial celebration in 2014. The cardinal-and-white City College Knights compete in the Pacific Coast Conference.
