Bodnar Named Coach of the Year
The Pacific Coast Conference selected women's volleyball head coach Dede Bodnar as Coach of the Year for the 2005 season. Bodnar led her team to a 12-7 overall record and an 8-4 conference record, good enough for third place in the PCC. Both records were improvements over the 2004 season (8-10, 6-6 PCC).

Outside hitters Kelly Kaiser and Caroline Soria were also honored by being selected to the All-PCC team. Kaiser, who finished first in conference in digs per game with a 9.79 average and fourth in kills with 256, was named to the First Team All-PCC. Soria, named to the Second Team, led the conference in aces per game with a 0.68 average and finished second in digs per game with a 6.89 average.

Kaiser Selected As Women's Athlete of the Week

Freshman outside hitter Kelly Kaiser has been selected as the Player of the Week by Coach Dede Bodnar for the week that ended Sunday, Nov. 6. Kaiser had 20 kills and 41 digs against Grossmont on Nov. 2 and drowned nine kills in a sweep of Southwestern last Friday.

“She is not only a great player on the court, but she works hard in practice, in every drill, and wants to become the best player she can be,” said Coach Bodnar. “She is a coach’s dream because she never complains and just puts out 110 percent each and every day.

Andy Stucke Joins Coaching Staff

Coach Stucke brings not only phenomenal coaching attributes to our team, but he also brings many years of playing experience as well.  He received his B.S. in Exercise and Nutritional Science with an emphasis in Health and Fitness from San Diego State University in 1997. While attending SDSU, Coach Stucke competed for the Aztecs Varsity Men's Volleyball Program from 1992-1997.  During his time with the Aztecs, Coach Stucke was honored as a Scholar Athlete receiving both The Big Red and Monty Scholarship Awards for outstanding performance in the fields of athletics and academics.  He was also awarded the Team Captains Award during his senior year.  Coach Stucke continues to play at both the National and local levels.  He currently enjoys playing various indoor 6-man tournaments as well as outdoors doubles tournaments.  He is presently the "winningest" player at the SDCC Outdoor Grass Volleyball Tournament Fundraisers with 5 consecutive wins in both the Men's Open Tournament and the Reverse Coed Open Tournament.

Coach Stucke has also worked as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and Personal Trainer for the past 11 years.  While finishing his degree at SDSU, Coach Stucke had the privilege and honor of studying under SDSU Head Strength & Conditioning Coach David Ohton.  Since his time with Coach Ohton, Coach Stucke has developed his own very successful Strength & Conditioning/Personal Training business.  He has received his “Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist” (CSCS) Certificate from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), which is nationally known as the only accredited strength and conditioning certification program in the country.  Coach Stucke is looking forward to bringing his expertise and intense passion for the game to SDCC Volleyball in both his excellent volleyball fundamental training (including his explosive play at the net and outstanding jump serving technique) as well as his expertise in the strength and conditioning field.
