In October 2007 the worst firestorm in San Diego history claimed 11 lives. Seven of those were undocumented people from different parts of Mexico, including three women who were making a dangerous and illegal trek through the rugged mountains of San Diego's east county.

Every Day is Earth Day by RTV 245
In Spring, 2008, the RTV 245 (Television Workshop) class created a promotional video for the City College Environmental Stewardship Committee. The video, directed by Adjunct Professor Bob Sly, was viewed by faculty and staff at the Fall 2008 convocation and continues to be used as an example of the San Diego Community College District's ongoing efforts in sustainability.

El Andi en Camponuevo by Peter Abad-Schuster
Shot 80 miles north of Lima, Peru in May 2009, this video features 12-year-old Andrés Roca Rey - or El Andi - receiving his first lesson on how to ride the famous Peruvian Caballo de Paso and then performing bullfighting exercises in the ring belonging to the most famous Peruvian Matador, Rafael Puga Castro (the producer's brother-in-law). The story aired in Europe on the blogspot "Detorosenlibertad." El Andi will become a matador upon reaching his 16th birthday.
