City Times, the campus newspaper for San Diego City College, seeks writers, photographers, graphic designers and editors with interests is News, Sports, Arts & Entertainment, Analysis and opinion, and Features. City Times, published regularly throughout the school year under the supervision of adjunct professor Roman Koenig, has served the City College community since 1945. The newspaper is published as a learning experience through City College's developing, award-winning Journalism program. In 2009, City Times won 12 awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, including Best Newspaper for San Diego colleges, winning out over San Diego State, Southwestern College, and Grossmont College. The other awards went to individual students in a wide range of categories, including a sweep of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd by one student (Michele Suthers) in the illustration category, professional division. City Times also won first place in the San Diego County Fair's Student Showcase college newspaper division, with Best in Class awards for Focus on School and Layout/Design.
