Why Us? We know that students have a choice when it comes to vocational training and education. So why choose San Diego City College? At City College the Radio TV Department faculty is committed to helping students at all skill levels and ages. Whether you are pursuing a two-year Associates Degree, earning a Certificate of Achievement, or just looking for some hands-on professional development and training, the Radio-TV Department can help. Our faculty has real life experience working in the Radio-TV, Audio, Film, and Multimedia industries. We frequently visit televsion and radio stations, as well as production and film companies. By doing so, we remain at the top of the technology edge. We are also committed to paving the way for our students to engage in invaluable internships, as well as entry-level, full time. and part time employment positions. The San Diego City College Radio-TV Department has a solid reputation in San Diego. We can proudly say that hundreds of Communications careers have been launched as a result of the training students received in this department. Our film department is one of the few left in Southern California - still offering students a rare opportunity to shoot on 16mm film. Our Radio students are now producing an NPR-style feature radio program which airs monthly on KSDS Jazz 88. Plus, our TV News students produce an Emmy Award Winning half- hour, weekly news show which airs on ITV, The County Education Channel. In terms of equipment, we have a fully functioning TV studio on campus equipped with high-definition cameras. We are also home to KSDS-FM Jazz 88, which also broadcasts in high definition. These studios allow our students invaluable hands-on training and experience. In addition to a wide variety of day courses, we also offer evening classes and on-line distance learning courses for working adults. |
