Orientation
All new college students should attend an orientation session.
Orientation allows students to become less overwhelmed with the new
experience of starting college, while at the same time providing new
students with an opportunity to meet with a counselor, and become
familiar with on-campus resources. It has been proven that students
would attend orientation tend to fare better throughout they stay in
college than those who do not. To sign up for orientation contact the
Counseling office Room A110 or call 619 388 3540
Assessment
The Counseling department administers the college’s English and Math
assessment test. While assessment testing is optional, you should take
the assessment test if:
1. Plan to take an English or Mathematics
2. Plan to take a course that has an English or Math
prerequisite
3. Plan to obtain an associate degree
4. Plan to transfer to a four year college or university
The only exceptions will be students who can prove that they have taken
equivalent English and Math classes at a prior college or University. In
such cases it is very important to request a copy of your previous
college transcript sent to City College’s district offices at 3375
Camino Del Rio S. San Diego, CA 92108.
Please come into the counseling offices Room A110 to sign up for your
assessment testing, or call (619) 388-3540 to make a testing
