Welcome to the English Center’s

Online Tutoring Program!

The San Diego City College English Tutorial Center is pleased to offer online tutoring to accommodate students currently enrolled and taking classes at San Diego City College or ECC who either prefer or cannot attend sessions on campus. Online tutoring gives students the freedom to receive tutoring from home or any location where a computer with internet access is available.

If you want to receive online English tutoring, you must make an appointment. Appointments can be made for any time between 9 am and 9 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 9 am to 1 pm Fridays. Appointment requests must be made no later than 8 am the morning of the day you request the session, and you can request an appointment up to 5 business days in advance. Once an appointment request is made, please allow up to 1 day for confirmation. Same-day requests will be processed within 1 hour provided the request is made before 8 am. You will receive confirmation by email. Follow the instructions in the confirmation email for a great session.

Steps for making an online tutoring appointment

1.      Email us at ecappointments@gmail.com or call us at (619) 388-3633 to make your request. You must choose a primary date & time and a backup date & time. Allow up to 1 day for confirmation. Requests made over a weekend or holiday will be processed the following business day.

2.      When you receive your confirmation email it will contain (1) confirmation of the date & time of the appointment, (2) tips for what to do to prepare for your session, and (3) instructions for how to log in to the session. Do not delete the confirmation email. If your appointment request could not be confirmed, you will instead receive an email requesting a different date & time.

3.      If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so no later than 3 hours prior to your appointment. If you fail to cancel and miss your appointment, it could affect your ability to get future appointments.

Tips for having a great online tutoring session

Email us an

·         Electronic copy of your paper or assignment before the session. Send your documents to ecappointments@gmail.com.

Show up

·         15 minutes early, to test your audio and connection before your appointment. Be in the session already when the tutor arrives.

·         If your appointment is between 6-9 pm, log in before 4 pm to test your audio and connection. If you have problems, contact CCC Confer at (760) 774-1150 ext. 1537, 1554, or 1542 between 8 am and 4 pm. CCC Confer offers outstanding customer support.

Bring your

·         Student ID number

·         Professor’s name

·         Book/s

·         Prompt/assignment

·         Lecture notes, research or related information

Remember that

·         During a tutoring session, your tutor will not proofread or edit your paper for you

·         If you need to step away from your computer, you should inform your tutor before doing so

·         Your session is 40 minutes long! Be ready to focus for the duration of your appointment.

We provide  tutorial services during Spring session starting Feb. 1, 2010.

Our Fall hours are Monday thru Thursday from 9 AM- 6 PM, and Friday from 9 AM-1 PM

Online Tutoring will be available Monday through Thursday from 9AM- 9 PM, and Friday from 9 AM- 1 PM
