 PHILOSOPHY

San Diego City College is a multicultural institution that is committed to providing open access to all who benefit from instruction and to meeting the diverse and ever-changing educational, cultural, and economic needs of the community it serves. As City College prepares world citizens for the 21st century, we recognize that the aim of education is the development of the WHOLE PERSON, who is prepared to value citizenship and to participate in a global community. To improve access and achieve excellence, we acknowledge and affirm teaching and learning as our highest priority. We recognize that citizens in a free society must cherish and protect the tradition of academic freedom and responsibility. We further believe that people are our greatest resource. To that end, we are committed to developing an environment that cultivates understanding and respect for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
