Languages

Throughout the semester students will learn to recognize cultural misunderstandings about the target language.

HOW DO WE PLAN TO REACH THIS GOAL

  • Using communicative approach (in class speaking activities) we’ll discuss the importance of formal and familiar ways to address a person/people of target language
  • Role-play real life situations
  • Strategies (to be determined) to teach students the concept/importance of physical space, physical contact among L2 language.
  • Using cultural multimedia resources that portray everyday life interaction of target language.
  •  Sharing professor’s and students’ experiences from different cultures…

WHAT WE PLAN TO REACH FROM THIS GOAL
Knowledge: Students will recognize the importance of using proper/ formal target language way of communication.

Comprehension: Students will indicate circumstances when he/she should acknowledge cultural differences.

Application: Students will demonstrate, dramatize, illustrate, and/or employ acquired knowledge with target language population.

Analysis: Students will appraise similar cultural behaviors from own language.
